How Grant Cardone Sets Goals
I want to show you how I set goals…
Because it seems crazy to think…
Every single goal I’ve ever set, I’ve achieved.
That’s because I have a precise way of setting goals.
Here’s how it works…
My goals don’t have due dates.
I recently wrote down: 8 billion people on this Earth will know my name.
I don’t have an exact date set for accomplishing this.
Heck, it might even happen after I’m gone.
The point is, you have to think it before it happens.
Even back when I was first getting started…
I wrote down: I own a jet.
At the time, I felt silly for writing this down. I’d never even flown private before.
But you have to imagine something in your head before it’ll ever materialize.
That’s why setting BIG goals is so important.
And I suggest not limiting yourself by creating a timeline for achieving your goals.
This allows you the freedom to think bigger.
Also, steer clear of setting little to-do lists – these are simply time sucks.
The reasons you set goals are to:
- Provide yourself clarity
- Create a target
- Measure progress
- Drive action
- Create accountability
And here’s the best way to go about them:
- Commit to goals bigger than you believe you’ll ever achieve.
- Figure it out as you go – even a small step in the right direction today.
- Surround yourself with people who will support you no matter what.
And be sure to write down your goals in the present or past tense.
I made $1 million dollars.
I love my job.
I am a great dad.
Start writing your future as if it’s happening today.
Then, just keep going.
Don’t get stuck in the mechanics of how you’re going to accomplish your goals.
Just put it on the canvas. Van Gogh painted 900 pieces of art over 10 years – and he only ever sold 1 painting during his lifetime.
Here’s why I’m telling you all this…
The word “goal” has these synonyms:
- Design
- Desire
- Purpose
- Intent.
Thinking bigger doesn’t cost anything. It’s freedom.
